Reddish Egrets, Egretta rufescens, is one of my favorite subjects.  When they hunt they sometimes prance around, use their wings as shade, and during breeding season develop a lion like mane that is spectacular.   Many of the individuals in this gallery I've come to know over the years, and have some familiarity with their different personalities.  The one that has some white feathers, lucistic, I think is used to me and sometimes flies near me to do its hunting.  If I get too close it gives me a grunt and I immediately back up as it walks by me at what it considers is a safe distance.  The white one is a white morph.
